Our History
Joy Valley Woodworks was started in 1996, by Max House and one cabinetmaker, in a renovated saw mill building on Joy Valley Road in Buxton, Maine. The saw mill had previously served to produce softwood lumber.

In 2001 the woodworking shop suffered a disastrous fire with a total loss of the building, including all tools and equipment. Shortly thereafter, Max and his team decided to rebuild the shop and relaunch the woodworking operation. Joy Valley's employees banded together and constructed a new facility measuring over 6000 square feet. The company was back in operation within 6 months after the fire.

Joy Valley's customers remained loyal to the company and helped it grow and prosper. T
o support the company's growth, the facility was expanded in 2008. Today, the production shop is approx. 10,000 square feet in size with plenty of land for additional growth.
